Civil court orders to reinstate 3 senior police officers

Civil Court of Maldives has ordered to reinstate former Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdulla Fairoosh, former Superintendent of Police Mohamed Riyaz and Inspector of Police Abdulla Ibrahim Didi.

Abdulla Fairoosh was dismissed by the Disciplinary Board of Maldives Police Service after reviewing a tweet he posted while he was studying abroad, alleging to have defamed the government. Mohamed Riyaz was dismissed alleging disciplinary issues. Meanwhile, Abdulla Ibrahim was dismissed during the events following the Supreme Court ruling on February 1.

In separate verdicts, the Civil Court ruled the dismissal of the police officers was unfair and biased. The court also ordered to reimburse the salaries and allowances since the day of dismissal to the day of reinstating.
