Traditions of the country should be passed on to children: First Lady

First Lady Fazna Ahmed has appealed to teach the noble traditions and culture of the country's forefathers to children.

Addressing a special function held by local non-governmental organisation, Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC), to launch its 2019 calendar, the first lady said Maldivians have been blessed with a beautiful culture and traditions and emphasised it should be passed on to children. Taking example from the culture of respect and togetherness passed on by the forefathers, she said such values should be taught to children.

The calendar designed under the theme 'Children and Culture' showcased several traditional activities and material culture such as mat-weaving, braiding the embroidery used on the traditional dress, in addition to some traditional games and Maldivian dishes.
