Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture Zaha Waheed has revealed plans to establish a fisheries training centre in Maniyafushi in Kaafu Atoll.
Speaking at the ceremony held at Gemanafushi in Gaafu Alifu Atoll to celebrate this year's Fishermen's Day, Minister Zaha Waheed assured training programmes will begin at the fisheries training centre in Maniyafushi within one and half years. At the ceremony, Minister Zaha highlighted on the challenges faced to fishermen and emphasised the need to solve all such issues.
On the same note, she revealed various types of fishing will be introduced to Maldives in efforts to enhance the sector. Furthermore, she said the government gives importance to building human resource in the fisheries sector.
