Male' City Council has held discussions with construction companies to solve issues identified in the sector. In a meeting held at Dharubaaruge convention centre, Male' City Council highlighted the companies do not follow basic construction requirements to ensure safety.
During the meeting, the companies in attendance noted major issues in the sector, highlighting the difficult process of attaining certain permits from relevant ministries. Meanwhile, the city council assured to work towards easier arrangements for the construction companies. Moreover, the council has called to refrain from carrying heavy objects with ropes and urged to use all safety measures in accordance with the set guidelines.
Speaking to media following the meeting, Male' City Mayor Shifa Mohamed stated the meeting is an important step towards establishing safer measures in the sector.
