Pilot project of breakfast for students to begin in 25 schools

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has said the pilot programme to provide breakfast to students will begin in 25 schools with the commencement of the academic new year. The entity to implement the pilot programme will be selected by the schools in an aim to conduct the programme effectively and efficiently, Education Minister Aishath Ali revealed speaking to the media regarding the pilot programme.

The programme will be launched in 3 schools in Male', 1 school in Hulhumale' and 1 school in Villimale', along with a school from each atoll. The minister expressed hope to launch the programme in all schools in future.

Moreover, the education ministry revealed the menus sent to schools will be compiled by a team comprising of members from Health Protection Agency (HPA) and a technical team of United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF). The menus were compiled in accordance with the information collected two years ago, UNICEF Programme Specialist Aishath Shahula Ahmed stated speaking about the menu.

Proving breakfast for students is a pledge to be achieved within the first 100 days of the administration.
