Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has captured a Sri Lankan fishing boat illegally fishing in the Maldives Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
The boat named Oshadi I was captured 42 miles outside Gadhdhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll by the Maldivian Coast Guard, according to MNDF. The coast guard noted the vessel was captured along with 6 fishermen.
The fishing vessel was immediately handed over to Maldives Police Service by a team from the Southern Area Coast Guard Squadron. The boat was reported by a Maldivian vessel.
