Government prioritises molding volunteers

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has revealed efforts are underway to empower volunteers within the education system, encouraging to mould volunteers from school level.

Addressing the official ceremony held to mark this year's International Volunteers Day, Education Minister Aishath Ali said importance should be given to strengthen the social lines and to embrace volunteerism in children. The education minister noted efforts will be exerted to mould volunteers from the schools itself.

Moreover, Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla expressed the society owes to volunteers speaking about their kindness and love towards the society. Highlighting the unity among the citizens were weakened during the past for various reasons, the home minister assured the new government will work towards retaining the strong unity among each other. He further revealed plans to hold a forum for non-governmental organisations.

During the ceremony, over 40 volunteer organisations were awarded plaques for appreciation while 7 organisations were granted donations.
