Elections Commission and Police discuss elections security measures

Elections Commission of Maldives has held discussions with Maldives Police Service to strengthen security of entities which are tasked with printing ballot papers for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The meeting was attended by President of Elections Commission Ahmed Shareef and acting Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed. They were accompanied by other members of the electoral body and senior officers of the police force. During the meeting, discussions were held to enhance security of the entities which will print the ballot papers for the parliamentary elections.

Extensive discussions were held on addressing issues regarding the re-registration process and the scope of assistance the police force can provide in the electoral process and at the voting stations, according to spokesperson and member of the commission Ahmed Akram. He revealed the commission has also decided to seek assistance from Maldives National Cadet Corps, The Scout Association of Maldives and Maldives Girl Guides Association on voting day.
