Economic Minster reveals plans to allocate a lagoon for liveaboards

Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has revealed plans to allocate a lagoon near Male’ for the liveaboards.

Speaking at the Maldives Boating Awards 2018, Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail said it has been brought to his attention the biggest challenge for the liveaboards in Maldives are the lack of a lagoon to dock the vessels. The economic minister added it is important to find a permanent solution for the difficulties faced by the vessel operators. He further highlighted it is an important pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to address the challenges faced for the boating industry.

While the boating industry has enhanced with a large number of liveaboards in Maldives, an issue all liveaboard operators raise is the lack of a suitable docking lagoon for them.
