MMA begins MTA Survey 2018

Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has begun the Maldivians Travelling Abroad (MTA) Survey.

The central bank stated the annual survey is conducted primarily to aid them in estimating travel expenditure of Maldivians, which is one of the main components of the current account of the Balance of Payments (BOP) statistics. The survey will be conducted from December 24-30 at the arrival terminal of Velana International Airport (VIA), according to MMA.

During the survey, MMA personals will act as enumerators to collect details of expenditure by Maldivian travellers, including information of reason for travelling, destination, duration of stay, as well as amount the travellers spent on tickets, accommodation, medical and other expenses. MMA requests for public support during the survey period.

MTA survey has been conducted by MMA once every years since 2011.
