HDC asks to remove structures built on Hulhumale' beach

Housing Development Corporation Limited (HDC) has asked to remove the structures built without permission on the eastern beach front of Hulhumale' before January 31.

In a statement, HDC revealed no permits were given to build any structures on the eastern beach front or for the area to be used for any businesses. HDC said if there are any structures or businesses operating in the area after January 31, strict action would be taken against the parties. The corporation further added any structure or object left in the area would be removed by the authorities after the given deadline and noted it would not take responsibility for any damages caused during the removal.

In the statement, HDC highlighted the eastern beach front is an area allocated to be developed for the residents of Hulhumale' and others visiting the location. HDC said a policy on how the area would be developed would be made public in the coming days and noted utilising the current services provided in the area would be given importance.
