Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has assured the two Indian choppers active in Maldives are operated as instructed by the Maldivian military.
Some locals have expressed concerns in social media as there are Indian military personnel in Maldives. However, at a press conference held by MNDF, the coast guard refuted all such rumours.
At the press conference, Commander of Coast Guard Brigadier General Ali Zuhair assured Indian helicopters are not given license to collect any information which may demean the security of Maldives. He noted Indian military personnel are in Maldives to assist MNDF and acts upon the orders given by Maldivian military.
Moreover, Zuhair said any exercises held by Indian military and Indian choppers will be held under the command of MNDF. He urged the public to refrain from spreading false rumours without evidence, adding such rumours are spread to create unease in the public.
