Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has expressed Maldivians are now showing unity, following years of unrest.
Speaking in the official ceremony held to mark National Unity Day, Home Minister Imran Abdulla noted Maldivians showed exemplary unity in events following the 2004 tsunami. The minister highlighted Maldivians have always been unified people over the centuries. However, he said such good values were overshadowed by political division in the recent years.
Furthermore, the home minister spoke on the importance of supporting the government to fulfil the pledges. He said it must a responsibility of each citizen to ensure the government is assisted in providing the socioeconomic development for the country.
