Commission for prison audit has asked to submit information regarding situation of detainees.
A statement released said the commission has begun the tasks mandated on December 18, revealing efforts are underway to collect information necessary. Under these efforts, the commission has asked the public to come forward with information before January 10, adding information can be submitted via mail or telephone. Moreover, those interested can request a meeting and attend physically and provide information at the commission's office established at the Ministry of Home Affairs, according to the commission.
The public had criticised the past administration for the poor treatment of the inmates. It is an electoral pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to audit the prisons.
