Previous government amended regulations to allow political influence

Acting Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed has stated the previous administration made changes to the regulations of the police force to allow political influences.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with PSM News, the acting commissioner of police said the past administration gave the authority to Ministry of Home Affairs to decide whether a police officer stays in the line of duty or not. Noting it is an unacceptable decision, Mohamed Hameed expressed it allowed political influences to the police force. He also highlighted the decision was made against the regulations of the institution, adding the amendment has now been nullified.

Furthermore, the acting commissioner expressed the amendment was nullified after extensive discussions with the management board and executive board. Hameed reiterated he will attach the highest importance to ensuring the authenticity of the institution, assuring to eliminate all political influences to the force.

On conclusion, Hameed assured amendments will be made for relevant laws and regulations to eliminate any path for political influences.
