Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has revealed the aim of the government is to make agri-farming an important tool in enhancing the economy of Maldives. Speaking to PSM News, Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail said agri-farming in Maldives has a great potential and the government attaches a grave importance to flourish the sector.
During his first maiden trip since assuming office, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih signed an agreement with the government of India to enhance the agri-business in Maldives. The economic minister noted Maldivian businesses need technical expertise, adding farmers will receive a variety of technical support as part of the agreement with India.
In addition, the minister expressed the future of farming in Maldives is bright, as more opportunities will be provided to export local products. He highlighted several foreign parties seek to invest in the agriculture sector of Maldives.
Meanwhile, the government has included several goals to be fulfilled in the 100 day pledge policy aimed at developing the agriculture sector in Maldives.
