Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has introduced a work visa fee online payment service. The service was launched by Minister of Communication, Science and Technology Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal at a ceremony held at Maldives Tax Academy.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister Maleeh Jamaal said it is an aim of the government to ease the tax paying process, adding the launching of the new service will ease the business enterprises. Payers face a lot of difficulties as it requires lot of time and a long queue to pay for work visa, according to MIRA.
Meanwhile, Commissioner General of Taxation Yazeed Mohamed revealed plans to introduce online payment services in the future. He also expressed hope to work together with Ministry of Science, Technology and Communication to enhance the online payment system in Maldives.
