Maldives Police Service has revealed installation of speed and surveillance cameras on bridge and highway will be concluded within 3 months.
Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Chief Station Inspector Mohamed Hassan stated the technical survey has been concluded in efforts to install the cameras. Mohamed Hassan noted currently, efforts have commenced to implement a plan to install the speed and surveillance cameras.
Revealing plans to establish a special command centre to monitor traffic and safety on the bridge and highway, he added a system will also be established to take timely actions against violators. In this regard, the chief station inspector expressed a sustainable system will be formed to fine traffic violators who will receive a notification to their cell phones regarding the fine.
The institution will ensure the fines are paid, according to the police. Since the opening of the SIna-Male' Bridge for traffic, 27 accidents have occurred on the bridge, with a further 48 accidents on the highway and 45 accidents on the ring road.
