Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has stated acts of corruption take place in the process of bringing expatriate workers due to the challenges faced in attaining services in the sector.
The economic minister said several issues related to expatriate workers have been identified. In this regard, the minister highlighted not solving the issues in finalising work permits is a failure of the past administration. Moreover, the minister noted several efforts are in the pipeline to solve issues related to expatriate workers.
Noting even though the aim of the government is to increase locals engaging in jobs, he said the process of bringing expatriate workers will be eased in the future.
