Customs seized 32kg of drugs last year

Maldives Customs Service has revealed 32 kilograms of drugs were seized last year. From January 1 to December 31, the customs service seized 32 kilograms of narcotics in 83 operations, according to statistics.

It includes 11 cases of drug smuggling via air route, 68 cases of drug smuggling via post, 3 cases of drug smuggling via air cargo and 1 case of drug smuggling via sea route.

Customs said the amount of drugs seized last year increased on average compared to 2017, in which the service seized 24 kilograms from 25 operations.
