Adeeb was transferred back to prison against doctor's recommendations: HRCM

Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) has revealed former Vice president Ahmed Adeeb was transferred back to prison against doctor's recommendations.

HRCM sent letters to relevant authorities stating the findings of its investigation regarding Adeeb's health. In the statement, HRCM said it is clear the doctors have advised to keep him in a homely environment for a period of two months.

HRCM said Adeeb's detention shows Maldives Correctional Service failed to follow the doctor's instructions. HRCM expressed the urologist had recommended two months in a stress-free environment for the former vice president and 6 to 8 weeks under the care of his family to recover.

The President of Maldives Third-Way Democrats (MTD) was taken to hospital and is under medical treatment after his health worsened when he was taken back to prison on January 2.
