Maldives and the US have discussed enhancing military ties between the two countries. The discussions were held as part of the official trip of US Assistant Secretary of Defence Randall Schriver to Maldives.
The meeting held with Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal was attended by US Ambassador to Maldives Alaina Teplitz. The meeting was also attended by Brigadier General Vais Waheed, Brigadier General Hamid Shafeeq and Defence Attaché at the US Embassy in Colombo Colonel Douglas Hess.
During the meeting, discussions were held to strengthen ties between the US and Maldives in terms of security and military assistance. Moreover, discussions also focused on identifying areas of collaboration between the two military forces and providing training opportunities.
