Ministry of Education and Ministry of Tourism have discussed ways to further incorporate travel and tourism in the academic syllabus of Maldives. The discussions were held by Minister of Education Aishath Ali and Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed.
During the meeting, discussions were held on how travel and tourism related topics can further be incorporated in the academic syllabus. Moreover, the two ministers discussed on the importance and the activities which can be conducted within the school systems to sustainably enhance the sector as it is the main income source of Maldives.
Furthermore, during the meeting, concerns raised by tourism industry employees regarding annual school holiday period were also addressed. The ministers also discussed to change the annual school holidays to mid-year similar to some foreign countries. Currently, the annual school holidays are fixed at the end of the calendar year.
