Maldives have conveyed assurance of commitment to maintaining good relations with China.
During the courtesy call by Ambassador of China to Maldives Zhang, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih expressed deep gratitude for the invaluable assistance extended by China over the years, towards the socio-economic development of the Maldives.
During the meeting held at the President's Office, the president and the ambassador spoke with regard to the progress of Chinese commercial ventures and economic projects in the Maldives. Furthermore, the president and ambassador expressed shared optimism that future years will witness strengthened cooperation on issues of mutual importance and an increasing number of tourist visits to the Maldives by Chinese nationals.
Concluding the call, the ambassador conveyed warm wishes on behalf of the government of China to President Solih and to the people of Maldives. The ambassador reiterated the president's positive sentiments with regard to building upon the existing strong foundation of fruitful bilateral ties between the two countries.
