Maldives have officially launched the first ever veterinary clinic. The clinic located in Villimale' was inaugurated by Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture Zaha Waheed.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Zaha Waheed noted Maldivians love keeping different kinds of pets in their households. The minister said it is important to provide a clinic for pet holders to treat their pets and to ensure a healthy environment. She expressed the health of pets are directly related to the health of its owners.
Noting the services provided by the clinic will be enhanced in the coming days, Minister Zaha said efforts to import medicine for pets are underway with the assistance from State Trading Organisation (STO).
Meanwhile, speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Anusha Hemathi said the clinic will improve the services provided by veterinary doctors in Maldives, highlighting the challenges faced in the past.
Previously, Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture provided treatment for pets via a mobile veterinary service.
