Police issue warning against threats and radicalisation

Maldives Police Service has warned strict action against those who make threats and those who radicalise Islam.

A statement issued revealed the institution had noticed comments are made on social media platforms to defame individuals, ridicule the religion and threaten the life and property of individuals. The police said any such action would not be tolerated

Further, the police warned hate speech in social media will be investigated and the culprits will be advised not to continue acts that will create unrest within the society. The police also noted if individuals are threatened, such cases will be investigated, adding necessary action will be taken against such individuals.

Moreover, the police service requested to report any threats, urging to maintain peace and unity of the nation. The police force advised to maintain good relations between each other in the society.
