Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture has published the list of agricultural supplies and equipment for tax exemption. In this regard, the ministry has declared 158 agricultural supplies and equipment for tax exemption.
The 158 product list published in the government gazette consists of chemicals, pesticides and other agricultural equipment. The list also consists of live ducks and turkeys, in addition to some types of seeds.
It is a pledge of the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to abolish tax on agricultural products. The recent amendment to the Import and Export Act passed by the Parliament on December 11 granted the ministry the authority to eliminate tax on selected products.
The main aim of abolishing tax on agricultural products is to enhance farming in Maldives.
