The academic new year has begun with 73,035 students.
The students and the teachers warmly welcomed upon their arrival to the schools for the first day of the academic new year. The schools were also decorated to celebrate the beginning of the academic new year.
While 213 schools in Maldives have begun teaching for the year, the students, teachers and parents are hopeful of a bright and successful year ahead. The students have set new goals while the teachers have prepared to assist the students to reach their targets.
This year, 73,035 students will study in 213 schools while 9,800 teachers would be in service. While 7,900 teachers are locals, 1,900 teachers are foreigners. 185 schools will teach for O' Level standard and 50 schools will teach for A' Level standard. The first semester of the year consists of 200 studying days and will end on May 30. The second semester will commence on June 9. The academic year will end on November 24.
A pilot project in 25 schools to provide breakfast for students was also launched as part of the first 100-day pledge policy of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
