Maldivian Ambassador-designate to India pays a courtesy call on Vice President

Vice President Faisal Naseem has noted the key areas Maldives need development assistance from India. The statement was made during the courtesy call by Ambassador-designate from Maldives to India Aishath Mohamed Didi on the vice president.

During the meeting held at the President’s Office, the vice president noted Maldives need assistance on building of facilities for persons with special needs and increasing the number of scholarships for Maldivian students to study in India.

Further items discussed included the importance of strengthening the quality of consular services to Maldivians living in India; increasing the number of tourists from India to the Maldives, especially in light of India's large population; and the need to strengthen bilateral co-operation, especially in the sectors of Tourism, Health and Gender.

During the meeting, the vice president congratulated the Ambassador-designate on her posting and noted her abilities and expertise will be of invaluable assistance in the work of consolidating the Maldives' friendship with India.

Concluding the call, the ambassador-designate noted she will make full use of her posting to fulfil the policies of the administration.
