Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has called to put forth harmony of the nation over ideologies of political parties. The comments from Maumoon comes in the wake of disagreement within the coalition.
In a tweet, Maumoon said a coalition government was established to govern the country peacefully and to make the dreams of the people a reality. In this regard, the former president called to put forth nation's peace and harmony before any political ideology.
Moreover, Maumoon added it is a responsibility of every individual representing the coalition to work towards maintaining the coalition and its beliefs, especially highlighting the efforts of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the four coalition leaders.
The former president's comments come at a time when another leader of the coalition, Qasim Ibrahim, has cast doubt whether the coalition agreement is still in effect.
