Maldives have expressed interest to strengthen the quality of diplomatic and consular services offered by the Maldivian Embassy in Sri Lanka. The statement was made during a call by Ambassador of Maldives to Sri Lanka Omar Abdul Razzaq calls on Vice President Faisal Naseem.
During the meeting held at the President's Office, the vice president congratulated the ambassador on his recent appointment, and expressed his eagerness to work closely with the ambassador to build on the close and positive ties between Maldives and Sri Lanka.
The ambassador reiterated the vice president's sentiments regarding strengthening bilateral ties. Further, the ambassador noted he would do his utmost to ensure that some of the issues and challenges faced by Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka, particular with regard to visa facilitation and accessing services, are addressed. He also expressed he will explore ways of further strengthening the quality of diplomatic and consular services offered by the Maldivian Embassy in Sri Lanka.
In addition to the aforementioned areas, the vice president and ambassador spoke of enhancing cooperation with Sri Lanka on mutual priority areas such as tourism and trade. Concluding the call, the vice president wished the ambassador well in his diplomatic endeavours.
