MLSDP registered as a political party in Maldives

Elections Commission has registered Maldives Labor and Social Democratic Party (MLSDP) as a political party in Maldives. In a tweet, Elections Commission revealed MLSDP has been presented with the registration certificate.

MLSDP was granted permission to form a political party on August 5. The party led by former member of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Abdulla Haseen submitted 3-thousand membership forms on December 6. The party held the inaugural general meeting on January 11 and elected the interim leadership committee.

With the registration of MLSDP, the total number of political parties in Maldives have risen to 8. The political parties registered at the Elections Commission are Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), Jumhooree Party (JP), Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), Adhaalath Party (AP), Maldives Third-Way Democrats (MTD) and Maldives Labour and Social Democratic Party (MLSDP).
