Administration to open several projects for bid next week

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed the administration will open several projects for bid next week.

In a press conference held at the President's Office, President Solih said the projects include several development ventures across the country including establishing water and sewerage services and constructing road networks. The president made the statement in the wake of criticism to the administration regarding the delay in launching development projects mentioned in the manifesto with funds allocated in the state budget.

Responding to the criticism, the president revealed arrangements to launch several key projects are nearing completion. He added the projects earmarked in the state budget that falls under the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP) will be opened for bidding next week.

Explaining the delay in launching new projects, President Solih said several projects planned and contracted by the previous administration needed to be amended. He noted several projects initiated by the previous administration lacked planning and the necessary documents to proceed.

The president further highlighted several state-owned enterprises and businesses are run in loss and added the structure of the organisations need to be changed to sustainably conduct development projects.
