Adeeb's transfer to prison lawful: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed the relevant authorities of the administration followed the laws, rules and regulations in transferring former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb back to prison.

Speaking at a press conference held at President's Office, President Solih stated he received letters and requests regarding Adeeb. In this regard, the president expressed the letters and requests are being looked into.

Moreover, President Solih highlighted so far, Ministry of Home Affairs and Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) have followed the rules and regulations.

Following the statement, spouse of Ahmed Adeeb, Mariyam Nashwa, accused the authorities have provided false information to President Solih. In a tweet, Nashwa requested a sitting with President Solih to inform him on the acts of the authorities in violation of the procedures.

Adeeb is kept in the special protection unit of Maafushi Prison, where all his basic rights are ensured, according to MCS.
