Ministry of Foreign Affairs has opened a temporary biometric clinic for Germany-Schengen Visa. The clinic is organised by the Embassy of Germany to Maldives with the assistance from the government of Maldives and Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Company (MMPRC).
Speaking to media about the temporary biometric clinic for Germany-Schengen Visa, Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed stated a total of 123 appointments have so far been booked from the visa centre opened in the ministry. Due to increased demand the clinic services has been extended until January 31, according to Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor. He further noted efforts are underway to establish means to permanently issue Schengen visa from Maldives.
The clinic will take the biometric enrolments and documents from all applicants who have made prior appointments. This is the first time Schengen Visa Application Service is provided in Maldives and it aims to ease the difficulties Maldivians face while applying for visas to travel to Germany, including those participating in Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin (ITB) Fair in March.
