Elections Commission of Maldives has established National Advisory Committee on Elections.
The national committee will provide its advice on the upcoming parliamentary elections, according to the electoral body. The Elections Commission has set up its first meeting for Monday.
The elections regulation grants authority to Elections Commission to formulate a national committee to seek advice on elections. Furthermore, Elections Commission revealed the committee comprises of 21 members, which includes members from 8 political parties, 10 institutions, a women empowerment organisation and an organisation catering for people with special needs.
In a tweet, President of Elections Commission said all the parties except Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) have nominated representatives for the committee.
The Elections Commission has decided to hold the parliamentary elections on April 6.
