Presidential Commissions and Committees to be given allowance, not salary

The government of Maldives has revealed members appointed to presidential commissions and committees established by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will not be allocated a salary, but rather an allowance.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih established two presidential commissions on his first day in office. Several committees were also formed, in his first two months in office, mandated to conduct some major tasks.

Speaking to PSM News, Spokesperson of President’s Office, Chief Communication Strategist, Ibrahim Hood stated the administration will not give members appointed to commissions and committees a salary, adding however, an allowance will be given for their tasks.

Furthermore, Hood noted the allowances will vary from commissions, committees and individuals. He added members of the commissions will also be provided security upon request.

President have so far established two commissions and six committees.
