President of Elections Commission Ahmed Shareef has revealed the Political Party Act has to be amended.
Addressing the ceremony held to launch the official colour and logo of Elections Commission, Ahmed Shareef noted to enable the political movements to operate in a democratic environment, relevant laws and regulations need to be amended. In this regard, Shareef added the Political Party Regulation needs to be changed along with the Political Party Act. He expressed hope the necessary amendments will be made, following the appointment of the new parliament.
While Shareef made the comments, last year, Elections Commissions met with Attorney General's Office and discussed changes to be brought to Political Party Act and made some suggestions.
