Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and Adhalaath Party (AP) have held discussions regarding the upcoming parliamentary election.
The discussions held at MDP Office late Sunday night was led by President of MDP Mohamed Nasheed and Chairperson of MDP Hassan Latheef, while Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla and Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services Shidhatha Shareef led the delegation from AP.
The discussions on constituencies to compete in the parliamentary election are held at a time when opinion is divided among the coalition partners. MDP decided to compete separately and will be fielding candidates for 86 constituencies, while AP will be contesting for 13 constituencies.
Meanwhile, Jumhooree Party (JP), disagreeing with the decision of MDP, announced readiness to hold discussions with other political parties regarding the elections scheduled to be held on April 6.
