Auditor General's Office has launched a financial analysis portal. The portal was officially inaugurated by Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer and Chair of the State Finance Committee of Parliament Ahmed Nashid.
The portal aims to present financial highlights and financial performance of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and public limited companies in which the government holds a share. The Auditor General's Office has also compiled a directory of accounts and auditors in the country, including accounting students. The directory, was officially inaugurated by Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer.
Addressing the function held to launch these e-services, Auditor General Hassan Ziyath said one of the vital characteristics of a business is availability of authentic information about the business. The auditor general added the directory of accounts and auditors will provide a common platform for all professionals in the field. Ziyath also revealed the Professional Accountant Body Bill has been now reviewed and forwarded to the Attorney General's Office.
Addressing the function Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer said the financial analysis portal was established as part of the efforts to increase transparency in all sectors.
The launching of the portal represents a major milestone in realising the vision to convey useful, relevant and reliable information on the financial performance and the financial position of SOEs to the general public, according to the Auditor General's Office.
