Courts of law and judges need to be reverted to the path of reform

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed no issue in the country will see harmony if the courts of law and judges are not reverted to the path of reform.

Delivering the first presidential address since assuming office, President Solih said judicial reform is one of the most important areas where immediate action is required to ensure justice and the rights of masses. Noting in the past couple of years, the parliament was shackled and held back from carrying out its constitutional duties, the president stated the work of the parliament must be improved and strengthened to reform the democratic system. He also stated the operations of the parliament need to be strengthened to build up the legislative.

Furthermore, President Solih assured since his inauguration on November 17, the administration has been functioning in accordance with the constitution. Reiterating a lawful administration will always be implemented, the president reassured the government is committed to govern within the limits of the constitution and the laws.

Moreover, president stated every aspect of administering the state is geared towards ensuring the rights of the Maldivian people, establishing social justice and improving livelihoods and well-being. Expressing gratitude, he said the citizens elected him as the president with the hope of a dignified life with integrity and cleared from the murkiness of corruption and theft.
