Southern Atolls connected by a ferry system

Vice President Faisal Naseem has inaugurated the ferry system between Fuvahmulah City and Faresmaathodaa in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The ferry system was inaugurated at a ceremony held at Faresmaathodaa. Upon inauguration of the ferry system, the 4 southern atolls of Maldives are now connected by a ferry system.

Speaking at the ceremony, the vice president said it is an aim of the administration to enhance the people to people contact to further progress the country. He noted the commencement of ferries between Fuvahmulah and Faresmaathodaa has connected the southern atolls under one network which will bring immense economic benefits to the area.

During the ceremony, Vice President Faisal also met with the people who travelled in the maiden ferry trip to Fuvahmulah. During his visit, the vice president also met with Faresmaathodaa Island Council.

A project is also ongoing to develop an airport at Faresmaathodaa. The island council requested to speed up the project to bring further benefits to the people. The council also asked to solve the issues faced by the citizens due to lack of land.
