Kumundhoo Council briefs President on issues

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with council members of Kumundhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

During the meeting held at President’s Office, Kumundhoo Council members disseminated information to President Solih on the issues which needs swift solutions and obstructions to the development of the island. The councilors especially noted the challenges being faced due to lack of resources, in delivering their services to the people. The council members also informed the President on issues related to lack of water and sewerage systems and waste management center in island.

Furthermore, Kumundhoo Council briefed the president on other areas of concern, including shortage of space in the island school, the need for laboratory services to be established at the island’s health centre, and to increase opening hours of the health center to 16 hours per day. Members also highlighted that the residents were looking forward to more tourism activity in the atoll.

In addition, during the meeting, the council requested President Solih to swiftly solve transportation issues of the island due to the harbor asking to conduct a survey of the harbor. Speaking in this regard, the council requested for a new generator to provide electricity and a harbor light to install in the harbor.

Speaking at the meeting, President Solih stated that it was his aim to meet with all public service institutions and work closely with the people in fulfilling their needs. The president also said that his Cabinet was always ready to resolve the challenges being faced by the Maldivian people. He further informed that all projects allocated in this year’s budget will commence soon.
