Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi has chaired a special session of Counter Terrorism Steering Committee and Counter Radicalisation Committee.
In the meeting, the members were given a joint briefing on the current situation of terrorism and violent extremism in the country by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Maldives Police Service and the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC). In the briefing, the contemporary threat environment of Maldives on terrorism and violent extremism front were shared with the members.
After the briefing, the members discussed extensively on the strategic level decisions to be taken by the organisations that were represented by the members and the chair was advised by the members on the way forward for the issues raised.
