Reforming courts will be easy if constructive criticism is encouraged: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed reforming the courts will be very easy if constructive criticism is encouraged by the courts of law.

Speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the judicial cycle 2019, President Solih highlighted on the importance of implementing an independent judiciary. He noted one of the most important pillars of modern democracy is independent courts of law.

Highlighting the most important aspect of democracy is governing closer to the public, President Solih stated the aim is to ensure rights without any discrimination. He said it can only be achieved with the implementation of an independent judiciary.

Moreover, President Solih stated the constitution ensures the independence of courts, adding every procedure must be conducted without obstructing the other.

Noting the three powers of constitution are required to answer to the public, the president said even the courts of law must answer if required. Furthermore, the president expressed the judiciary and courts must serve closer to public independently when a people's administration is established.
