Nasheed defends Mausoom following his suspension

Former President Mohamed Nasheed defends Chairman of Malé Water and Sewerage Company Private Limited (MWSC) Ahmed Mausoom reassuring he is honest and corrupt. Nasheed said so far he had no reasons to believe Mausoom is corrupt and assured he believes in his honesty.

The investigative report of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) stated USD 6.1 million was deposited to two accounts of companies in which Mausoom holds shares.

Following the allegation, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has ordered Mausoom to stay home until further notice. Defending Mausoom, former President Nasheed said even though the report states SOF Private Limited deposited money to companies in which Mausoom holds shares, he has resigned from the companies 20 years ago.

Mausoom served as the Chief of Staff in the administration of former President Nasheed.
