ACC takes statement from Youth Minister regarding MMPRC scandal

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has taken a statement from Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof.

On the detailed report of the investigation of the corruption scandal of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), ACC revealed Youth Minister Mahloof received USD 33,000. Following the revelations, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih ordered Mahloof to stay home until the end of the investigations.

In a tweet, Mahloof revealed he was summoned to ACC to take a statement regarding the case.

In a statement issued following the report, Mahloof said the deposit was made for currency exchange which involves nothing illegal. He further revealed he will resign from the post if he is found guilty of corruption.
