Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdulla Shamal has said action will be taken against Major Naveen following investigations.
SOF Private Limited, which received the largest amount from the scandal, deposited funds to Naveen, according to the investigation report of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).
Answering a question posed by a journalist, Major General Abdulla Shamal revealed Naveen is currently abroad, adding there are certain limitations when seeking to take immediate actions as he is not in Maldives. He revealed Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) was only aware of the funds deposited to Naveen only after the ACC report was published.
SOF deposited 100,000 US dollars to Naveen's bank account, according to the report.
The report published by ACC showed 155 accounts received money from SOF which includes government officials and parliamentarians.
The administration has taken action against ministers and senior officials named in the report.
