School breakfast programme to include all schools by second term

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has said preparations are underway to expand the school breakfast programme to all schools across the country.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Symposium on Reviewing the National Curriculum, the education minister said work is underway to add a new ring to the chain of events carried out by the government to take a step forward in the education sector. In this regard, the minister said the school breakfast programme which is now being piloted in some schools would be expanded to include all schools in Maldives when the second term begins.

Further, the minister said effort is underway to find out the challenges faced in implementing the programme and seeking solutions. She reiterated the stance of the administration that the long term benefits of the programme would be evident within six years.

The pilot programme was launched on January 13 in 25 schools across the country.
