Elections Commission to stamp ballot papers

President of the Elections Commission Ahmed Shareef has stated in addition to the security features, the logo of the electoral body would be stamped on the ballot paper. This is the first time such a measure is being taken with regard to the ballot paper.

Addressing a press conference, Ahmed Shareef said the purpose behind the inclusion of the special stamp of the logo of the Elections Commission is to ascertain the authenticity of the ballot paper. Officials would stamp every ballot paper just before being issued to the voter.

Shareef also announced that the commission would be inviting bids to print ballot papers. He said, similar to the presidential election, tablets shall be used at polling stations. However unlike the presidential election, they would not be dependent on internet networks to function.
